Documenting data enables (re-)usability of the data. Making data reusable can help others understand what you have done, or use your data for other purposes. If you have complex data you might want to consider richer documentation, including package vignettes (see here(Wickham, Çetinkaya-Rundel, and Grolemund 2023)), and websites (see here and the pkgdown package).
